Two weeks ago I went to the dentist for the first time in over a year. I had a massive cavity in one of my back molars. The dentist said it looked like a cave in a mountain, a house that had been destroyed by termites, and a car wreck!
Yikes! Apparently it was bad. So she had to drill...and drill...and drill.
I left feeling traumatized. I never want to do that again! After that experience, I set out to find a better way to take care of my teeth. What I had been doing obviously wasn't working.
I got a book called "Cure Tooth Decay. Heal and Prevent Cavities With Nutrition" by Ramiel Nagel. This book is amazing!!! There is so much about oral health that I didn't know!
Did you know that the reason we need our wisdom teeth removed is because our culture is so nutrient deficient that our jaws don't fully develop which causes our wisdom teeth to become impacted? I had no idea!
There is a ton of good information in the book that I have started incorporating into my life. One natural shift they recommend is making your toothpaste (most have ingredients that CAUSE cavities!).
Natural Toothpaste Recipe:
- 2/3 Cup Baking Soda (pure sodium bicarbonate) *This is a naturally occurring mineral
- 1 Tablespoon Organic Coconut Oil *This pulls out the toxins from the teeth and gums (Look into oil pulling also!)
- 10 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil (Only ingest Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade oils) *Promotes health teeth and gums. Promotes good breath.
- and /or 10 Drops Onguard Essential Oil(Only ingest Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade oils) *Increases immune system.
