Spring symbolizes rebirth. We use it as a time to cleanse our homes of built-up clutter from our winter nesting time, reintroduce our intentions for a healthy, happy and connected well being, and shed ourselves of layers of physical and mental burdens hindering us from living from a place of light.
Last spring, I found myself transitioning homes in Hawaii. Amidst my pregnancy, I found this move as more than just a typical “spring cleaning.” It was my chance to declutter any belongings that no longer served me. It was also my opportunity to introduce a fresh energy in my home and my new life as a mother.
There are so many ways you can promote a positive environment in your home. For me, I found it as important for my own health as much as for my partner’s and the incredible being growing inside me. It also reminded me that change, while inevitable, ought not to be feared. Moving, a new season, a new family, a new perspective on life are all to be embraced, not feared.
To help you salute spring's arrival here are...
Three Ways to Clear Your Home of Negative Energy:
To smudge, you simply light a rolled stick of sage (you can find this at most health food stores), set the intention of what you are going to cleanse, and fan the sage lightly. Open your windows during this process in order to release the negative energy from your home.
Salt rock lamps don’t just provide a beautiful and tranquil essence to the home, but the Himalayan salt rock is thought to transfer the negative ions in the air. You can also use sea salt around the borders of your home including your windows and doors to cleanse negative energies.
3. Essentials Oils
There are so many ways to use essential oils, and in terms of cleansing your home, a diffuser and sprays are great options. Frankincense works as a purification, and is well-known for removing negative influences on the body, aura, psyche and environment. Diffuse in a room or simply place a few drops of the oil in a spray bottle with filtered water and spray your surroundings.
